While we were waiting for weather!
Well, while we were waiting for weather that we liked we continued to work and finish off jobs on the boat, and pick up extra paying work as we were able. Dan was also having trouble with the generator and it got to a point that we couldn't get it started. Long story short, we discovered with some professional help that it wasn't all his fault and some work that had been done prevoiusly on the generator hadn't been completed properly ending in quite a costly repair!! I won't go into all the gory details right now as I need Dan to be able to tell me all the proper terms etc, but we will do a write up at some stage. But to quote Dan he was thankfull that we found this out here in NZ where we could fix the issue, and not in the Islands, where we would have just left it and not bothered, but would have meant the past 18 months working towards getting up and running were wasted. ANYWAY as of Thursday we are all back up and running and looking again to the weather, which we thought would be Monday, but Tuesday is getting winder with each new forecast we see and so we have decided to wait until Wednesday. Dan felt if we had been sailing recently and weren't quite so full of food we probably could leave Monday, but as we are all a bit green at the moment we are waiting. We went to the local market yesterday and have stocked up on approx 15kg of Apples, kiwifruit, feijoas, cabbages, pumpkins....hopefully we will be well enough to eat them!!

The Past 18 months
As I have recently been giving out our blog address I thought I had better do a quick entry to update how the past 18 months have been for us.
I have been the main breadwinner working for the local DHB and have been amazingly privileged to have worked with so many great and memorable people. Hopefully some of you will be reading this and continue to stay in touch!
Dan has been concentrating on the family, schooling and boat upgrades, including a LOT of time and effort spent on getting a dedicated generator and sorting an AUTOPILOT!!
As a family we have had some great trips away to visit family and friends in both the North and South Islands, as well as Adventures to Rainbows End and Nitro Circus and exploring the local area.
I have now (nearly) finshed work and we are looking to the weather to see when we are going to be leaving NZ again for the Pacific. As of today it isn't really looking good for leaving anytime soon, but we will keep you posted.
In the meantime I hope to expand a bit on the generator saga, the autopilot and the things we are doing to get ourselves sorted to go off sailing again for an extended period of time.
Things are getting exciting now in the lead up to passage and I can't wait to share it with you all!
